What is Swedish massage?
Swedish massage is the manipulation of the superficial layers of muscles and soft tissues for therapeutic purposes. This style of massage was pioneered in the early 19th century by Swedish physiologist, Per Henrik Ling. Mr. Ling discovered that a combination of integrated movement and massage had a therapeutic effect on stiff joints. By the end of the 19th century, Swedish massage had reached Britain where it became a popular remedial treatment widely used by doctors and physiotherapists. Its style is defined by five techniques: effleurage, petrissage, friction, vibration and tapotement.

Can Help Relieve Muscle Tightness & Ease of Pain:
Our bodies often experience stress from repetitive movements due to work, sports and prolonged sitting. Swedish massage can help to relieve pain and prevent future injuries.

Increased Range of Movement/ Flexibility:
Swedish massage can help to break down scar tissue caused by injuries or surgery. The results can help improve performance in sports and increase mobility in everyday activities.

Stress Relief & Improved Emotional Well Being: Studies show that massage increases serotonin levels in the body, resulting in improved and prolonged sleep. Better quality of sleep can help reduce stress, improve focus, boost your mood, and improve your overall sense of emotional well being.

Can Help Improve Posture: Postural imbalances can have many sources such as overworked muscles due to repetitive strain, overcompensating muscles to ease stress of overworked muscles, prolonged sitting, or injury. Swedish Massage helps to ease the muscular holding that underlies postural imbalances.
